⚖️ Expert Verdict

The HP DeskJet 2820e offers some minor connectivity improvements over its predecessors, but it still can't compete with the feature-rich Brother MFC-J1010DW. The most glaring difference is the print technology: HP uses integrated printhead cartridges which are convenient but expensive, while Brother uses a more efficient individual ink system. The Brother J1010DW also includes a fax and a much better paper management system. While the HP 2820e wins on being incredibly light and easy to hide in a bookshelf, the Brother is the clear winner for anyone who actually needs to get work done efficiently and without the 'printer offline' headaches often associated with entry-level HP hardware.

BudgetKing
"Cheap to buy, but they trap you with the HP+ thing. You need to be online to print which is a bit dodgy if your internet goes down. Does the job, but read the fine print first."
